Ed Basham
Guitar & Vocals

Ed Basham was raised in a small town in West Virginia, the son of a coal miner. He remembers listening to his Mother, Father, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles play and sing bluegrass and gospel music as he grew up. When the mines shut down, his Father moved the family to Virginia, but even there the music continued. He was influenced by Jim and Jessie, the Louvin Brothers, and Don Reno and Red Smiley.

After playing in a few local bands in Virginia, Ed moved to Atlanta in 1982  and began to involve himself in the music scene there.  In 2000 he was asked to join the Gary Waldrep Band, where he continued to hone his skills.  One big lesson learned during his tenure with Waldrep was  the importance of  professionalism in stage performances.

In Aug 2005 he became a member of Overdrive,  a fast-rising central Georgia group, which lasted until scheduling shows became a problem for the band.   During a down period,  he was asked to help Eastwind, and finally he felt like he had found a home!   Hard driving picking, good harmonies, and  original material...all the ingredients were now in place!  Ed has 6 children, 17 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
