Ron Hall
Fiddle

Ronnie is the Mystery Man of Eastwind Bluegrass Band…what you see here is only a small portion of his story, so catch him at a show if you want to hear more.   He was born in Pontiac, Michigan, the latest addition to several generations of coal miners.   His mother moved the family to the Chattahoochee Valley area of Alabama when Ronnie was 4 yrs old and by the time he turned 11, he'd taken up guitar and
fiddle.   Not long after, decided a change of surroundings was in order and ran away to play guitar with a "traveling evangelist", traveling throughout the United States.

By his early 20's, Ronnie had developed determination to get back into fiddling, but  couldn't afford a fiddle at the time.   His solution was to buy a piece of wood at a time over a year or so, until he had enough to build one….enjoying the process so much that he continues to build instruments.   To date, he's finished and sold 4 mandolins and 3 fiddles, with more under construction.   Keep an eye on this page for more details about Ronnie's instruments!

A close-knit band is a tough thing to step into, and the initial four members of Eastwind were ultra-adamant that any new members fit musically and personally.  As Roger puts it, "Ronnie fits as if we'd designed him for the part!".  Not only does he contribute a fine fiddling style that adds a whole new dimension to the Eastwind sound, but also provides continuous entertainment for the other band members…a real natural comedian, despite the serious demeanor onstage.

Ronnie lives near Seale, AL.  Carpenter, catfish farmer, worm rancher…Renaissance Man!
